The Obama Report

Obama announced his bid for the presidency this past Saturday.

We all know this man is very qualified and capable of possibly cleaning up the mess that the Bush regime created, but is America ready for a black president? I have mixed feelings about it. I am just more fearful for his life and his family.
How do you feel about the country possibly having a black leader for president?

I feel that it is time. If America is not ready now, then when. If we can have same sex marriage, then we could have a black president.

I fear for his life too, but MLK said that "If a man has not found something worth dying for, he is not fit to live." I'm not saying that he should be dying for the country or anything but I'm sure he knows that he will be risking his life if he is elected president... and dammit it's worth it! He will be making history and I will be proud-as a matter of fact i am proud, that a black man is running for president in my lifetime (and much respect to hilary too)

I have to agree I'm happy that Obama is running for President. How long do we have to wait! Think negative and nothing will grow. Think Positive and the world is your oyster

I have to 2nd what ERIC said...I'm not one for being repetitive, but if it's been said correctly once, no need to say it again....Although I'm a pessimist when as it relates to race relations in America, I'm going to remain hopeful about Obama. He's extremely charming, clever, intelligent, articulate and a fresh face in politics.

I'm hopeful that his mystery and novelty will push Americans to truly educate themselves on the issues of 2008. Although the Iraq War is at the crux of America's mind, there are domestic issues we need to concentrate on as well: healthcare, the economy, global warming, social security and of course EDUCATION. As Americans, we need to wake up and inform ourselves on the issues that effect us all.
