Paris goes to Jail for 45 days

Hilton pleaded no contest in January to reckless driving stemming from a Sept. 7 arrest in Hollywood. Police said she appeared intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test. She had a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent, the level at which an adult driver is in violation of the law. A judge ordered the socialite to report to a county jail in suburban L.A. by June 5 to serve 45 days for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. Her attorney has said he will appeal.

This is good for Paris. I guess She didn't realize the seriousness about drinking and driving and with out a license. I can't wait until June 5th. She needed a wake-up call. I mean she violated her probation, what was she thinking!

She was sentenced to 36 months probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.Two other traffic stops and failure to enroll in a mandated alcohol education program landed her back in court. Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer, saying "there's no doubt she knew her license had been suspended," ordered that Hilton report to a women's jail in suburban Lynwood by June 5. The judge's ruling did not allow any work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail. Nor could Hilton pay to serve time in a jail of her choice, as some are allowed.

I loved him. He stood strong and powerful in any role he played.

“Baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair. Mother and baby are now resting,” the statement said. “No name has been decided on as yet, and (she) is purely known as Baby Brown!” Not Murphy? Wonder if she will be filing for child support from her baby daddy (Eddie Murphy). Stay tuned

Police want Brandy charged in fatality

LOS ANGELES - The California Highway Patrol recommended Monday that actress-singer Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in a freeway crash that killed a woman motorist last month, a city attorney's spokesman told The Associated Press.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in county jail and a $1,000 fine, Velasquez said.

Prosecutors couldn't say when they would make a decision about whether to bring a case. If charged, Brandy wouldn't necessarily have to appear in court and could have her lawyer enter a plea, Velasquez said.

Oprah Winfrey is firing back at critics of her decision to build a $40 million school complex in South Africa - saying she didn't build it in the U.S. because inner-city kids here don't appreciate the value of a free education. "I became so frustrated with visiting inner-city schools that I just stopped going. The sense that you need to learn just isn't there," the TV talk-show maven says in the current issue of Newsweek. "If you ask the kids what they want or need, they will say an iPod or some sneakers. In South Africa, they don't ask for money or toys. They ask for uniforms so they can go to school." The tough talk comes as the famously philanthropic Winfrey unveils her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa - a sprawling, 28-building complex for impoverished teens that features a yoga studio and beauty salon, among other luxuries. The 22-acre complex has taken more than five years to build and has raised eyebrows in the U.S. and abroad, she said. "I understand that many ...feel that I'm going overboard, and that's fine," Winfrey said. "This is what I want to do. I wanted to take girls with that 'it' quality and give them an opportunity to make a difference in the world." Winfrey handpicked the 152 girls who will attend out of an application pool of more than 3,500. I have to agree with Oprah, children in the inner city just don't appreciate a free education. They want the bling and things. My parents and grandparent always stressed the important of an education. ( free education is a privilege) The education system is so far behind other countries, and it's not getting better. We have created new consumers and no producers. Parents I understand you want to give your kids what you didn't have as a child, but really are we losing focus here?
